Angry Maths!

In Rowan maths set, we have been learning about shapes and, in particular, 3D shapes. We have been learning new vocabulary to describe the properites of 3D shapes, such as faces, edges and vertices.

We have also been studying the nets of 3D shapes. What better way to have fun in maths than make 3D shapes for our own Angry Birds game?

Take a look at our characters!

Space Bar is open!

In Rowan maths set, we have been learning about volume and capacity and, more importantly, how to measure capacity.

What better way to do this than by opening up our 'Space' themed bar and measuring some delicious fruit cocktails to share! Here are some pictures of us measuring out drinks such as Jupiter Juice and Alien Bug Delight!

Historical symmetry...

In year 3 and 4 we have studying shape and symmetry with a twist! Through our topic of Ancient Rome, we have studied shields from the Roman army and found that most had at least one line of symmetry!

We decided to use this fact in our maths lesson by creating our own Roman shields that had one or two lines of symmetry. We had to be very careful when measuring our shapes and designs to make sure our shields were as accurate as possible.

Here is a sample of our work:
