Super Sports Day!

Year 4 had an incredible afternoon of sporting fun, teamwork, and friendly competition as they took part in our Sports Day. Competing proudly for their four houses, the children showed great enthusiasm and determination as they tested their sporting abilities in a range of exciting events.

From fast-paced relay races and carefully balanced egg and spoon races to accurate bean bag throwing and skilful hockey stick dribbling challenges, the afternoon was filled with excitement, smiles, and plenty of laughter. Every child embraced the opportunity to take part, cheer on their teammates, and celebrate each other’s achievements.

Throughout the afternoon, the children demonstrated our 4R skills brilliantly. They showed reciprocity by working together and encouraging their house teams, resourcefulness by thinking creatively and adapting to each challenge, reflectiveness by considering how they could improve their performances, and resilience by persevering and giving their best, even when faced with difficult tasks.

Perfect PE

This term, our Year 4 children have been diving into an exciting dance topic during their PE lessons, using movement to bring secret missions to life! They’ve been learning how to use balance and body shapes to create striking poses, working both individually and in groups. Through teamwork and creativity, they’ve combined these elements into dynamic spy-themed dance routines – sneaking, sliding, and striking dramatic shapes just like agents on a top-secret mission. It’s been a fantastic way to develop coordination, confidence, and collaboration – all while having loads of fun!

The children will leave school in the afternoon, accompanied by Year 4 staff, and we will make our way to Central Park Leisure Centre on foot. We will return to school before the end of the school day.

Your child will need:

  • Swimming costume or swimming trunks (no bikinis please!)

  • A towel

  • A swimming hat

  • Goggles (not essential, but can be worn if preferred)

Children should come to school in their uniform and will get changed when we arrive at Central Park Leisure Centre. Please note, no aerosols or powders should be given to children, as these can cause problems for children with asthma.

All children, regardless of ability, will be taking part in swimming lessons as they are a National Curriculum requirement. Children will only be exempt from lessons with a signed and dated doctor’s note or certificate.

If you have any questions or queries about this or any other swimming related issue, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 4 team via year4@broadford.havering.sch.uk.

Year 3 and 4 New Age Kurling

Year 3 and 4 New Age Kurling

New Age Kurling is a new event (put on by the Havering Sports Collective) that Broadford Primary School entered this school year. The children were very excited and represented the school fantastically well.

We played many games against other schools, where we showed great passion and reciprocity throughout.

Well done Broadford for coming joint second in their group!

👏

Rain Dance!

As part of the children's experiences whilst at Broadford, Year 3 had a fabulous time dancing in the rain.

The children were eagerly awaiting the rain to come all morning, then finally, just after break the rain made a welcome appearance, and the children quickly made their way outside.

The children were very resourceful and used their imaginations when dancing, twirling and singing in the rain!

Delightful Dancing

This half term in Year 3, the children have started the new topic of dance in their PE lessons. This has been based around industrial dance, leading the children to consider the jerky movements that machinery can make. They have spent time working solo, in pairs and small groups, moving and creating sequences of eight beats to represent different machines. Using their resourcefulness skills, they have put these movements to music and presented them to their peers.

"We can spin one way and then the other like cogs." - Alexandra and Zyana

"It was fun moving like a robot." - Ayra

"I enjoyed working in a group in PE." - Harry

Year 3 & 4 Racket Pack

Year 3 and 4 Racket Pack

Racket Pack was an event full of badminton activities. Each activity needed to show teamwork to get the task completed. This was proven due to Broadford receiving a certificate for polite manners and gaining confidence throughout the event.

Well done Broadford!

Y4 Fantastic Footballers

A fantastic group of Year 4 pupils recently took part in a highly competitive tournament, joining dozens of schools from across Havering. Their performance was nothing short of outstanding, not only for their skill and determination but also for their exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork.

From the very first whistle, these young athletes demonstrated true grit, supporting one another, lifting each other's spirits, and showing respect to their opponents. With every pass, goal, and cheer, they embodied the values of fair play and unity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.

Their remarkable team spirit made them true champions, both on and off the field!  Well done, boys!

Year 4 Sports Day 2022!

A huge thank you to all of our parents for coming out to watch our sports day on Tuesday 5th July.

The children all performed and jumped and ran and threw and competed admirably and we are so proud of their efforts and their team work. Our favourite part of the day was definitely hearing all of the cheers and watching the Reciprocity skills everywhere!
