Year 3 Awards
Super Sports Day!
Year 4 had an incredible afternoon of sporting fun, teamwork, and friendly competition as they took part in our Sports Day. Competing proudly for their four houses, the children showed great enthusiasm and determination as they tested their sporting abilities in a range of exciting events.
From fast-paced relay races and carefully balanced egg and spoon races to accurate bean bag throwing and skilful hockey stick dribbling challenges, the afternoon was filled with excitement, smiles, and plenty of laughter. Every child embraced the opportunity to take part, cheer on their teammates, and celebrate each other’s achievements.
Throughout the afternoon, the children demonstrated our 4R skills brilliantly. They showed reciprocity by working together and encouraging their house teams, resourcefulness by thinking creatively and adapting to each challenge, reflectiveness by considering how they could improve their performances, and resilience by persevering and giving their best, even when faced with difficult tasks.
Year 3 Sports Afternoon
⚽Year 3 Sports Afternoon🏒
On Tuesday 16th June 2026, the Year 3 children filled the school field with incredible energy and enthusiasm for their annual sports afternoon. From the very first whistle, the track and field areas came alive with a fantastic variety of team and individual challenges. The children threw themselves into classic face-offs like the intense Relay Race, the balance-testing Quoit on the Head, and the hilarious, coordination-testing Egg and Spoon Race.
Agility was on full display during the Hurdle and Obstacle Race, while precision was key for Hit the Wicket and the Bean Bag Target Throw. Aspiring athletes showcased their impressive stick and ball skills in both the Hockey Dribble and Football Dribbling events, before sending the Mega Howler rockets soaring across the grass. What truly made the afternoon spectacular, however, was the outstanding sportsmanship; when they weren't competing, the children proved to be absolute mega-fans, serving as the ultimate cheerleaders by shouting encouragement and celebrating every single peer's success.

Terrific Teeth!
Year 4 have enthusiastically begun their new Science topic on the digestive system. This week, they focused on learning about teeth, including the different types of teeth and their important functions. Working collaboratively in pairs and using their reciprocity skills, the children created models of the bottom set of teeth using playdough before carefully labelling each type of tooth. They also discovered fascinating facts about teeth and discussed the importance of good dental hygiene and how to care for their teeth to keep them healthy. Well done, Year 4, for your excellent teamwork and scientific learning!
I enjoyed designing my partners teeth, I had to look carefully at each tooth - Mavis
Molars are the strongest teeth. - Alfie

Super Scientists in Year 3
Super Scientists in Year 3
This week, our Year 3 scientists turned the classroom into a living laboratory as they kicked off an exciting new investigation! To dive deeper into how plants compete for resources, we are tackling the big question: "Does the number of seeds within one plant pot affect the growth of the plants?"
Each child has carefully planted their sunflower seeds, with some pots housing a single seed and others containing a small cluster. Over the next four weeks, the children will take on the role of dedicated researchers—observing, measuring, and recording the height and health of their sprouts. It’s a fantastic way for them to practice fair testing and data collection. We can’t wait to see which sunflowers reach for the sky first and what this teaches us about the space and nutrients plants need to thrive!
