Year 3 Certificates 18.12.20

Well done to these superstars this week but well done to all children in Year 3 for a fantastic but challenging Autumn Term! You have showed huge resilience to all the changes that have been happening at school, let alone starting a new year group after a long time off.
We are so proud of every single one of you and can't wait to welcome you all back again on Monday 4th January 2021.
Have the most relaxing Christmas and New Year.

Well done, Aksanan. This is an immense achievement and we are so proud of you.

Christmas Poetry in Year 4!

This week, Year 4 have been writing Christmas poems in Literacy. They began with exploring the poem "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" and identified the use of rhyming couplets in the poem. The children then created their own word bank of words that are related to Christmas and came up with their own rhyming words. For example, ringing rhymes with singing, bringing and carolling.

Here are some of the poems that children have written.

"Rhyming words connect the poem together and make the poem come alive." - Ethan, Birch

"It is fun to read poems with rhyming words." - Emily, Birch

"I didn't realise rappers are poets. Even RAP stands for Rhythm And Poetry." - Riley, Ash

"It was really hard to put rhyming words at the end of a sentence but eventually we got there. I loved learning about rhyming couplets!" - Dhriti, Ash

"It was really fun writing my poem in a group. We started by thinking about our rhyming couplets and then built our sentences from there", Shajia, Larch

We wanted to make sure that all the children, who received their certificates during isolation, had the celebration they deserved. Today is the turn of the children who earned their awards on the 11th December!

A big well done to all of the children in year 4 for the brilliant work that was completed on Google Classroom. It was so lovely to see children enthusiastically completing their tasks and demonstrating resilience, even when the work was challenging!

Year 3 Bring The Christmas Cheer!

As we draw closer to Christmas, the Year 3's had planned to be together to sing their Christmas songs but our resilient stars did not let anything steal their joy.

Some members of Year 3 adorned themselves in Christmas attire and joined in online!

In this season, we could all do with some more joy so have a watch of the videos below!

Year 3's Stone Age Afternoon

As you may know, in Year 3 we have been using the book Stone Age Boy to frame our Literacy work this half term.

We are also learning about different historic buildings, including those buildings from the Stone Age.

This afternoon we decided to round off our learning on the Stone Age Boy with a celebratory Stone Age Afternoon.

The Year 3 children went outside and had a real campfire to enjoy whilst we read them stories of a similar nature to the Stone Age Boy. We had learnt about what the Stone Age people used fires for during our time reading Stone Age Boy.

We then came inside and our classroom had been transformed into a cave art painting extravaganza! Children either drew on brown paper on their tables or their tables were turned over for them to draw as if it was a real life cave!

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and so did we!

Year 4 Spellings W/C 14.12.20

For the last week of term, we thought it would be a good idea to consolidate some of the spellings that we have learnt this year, with a few festive words thrown in for good measure! There are only three groups this week: A/B, C and D.

Please encourage your child to practise their spellings every evening, so that they are prepared for their spelling test on Friday.
