Bogeymen and Trolls in Year 4!

This week, the children have had such fun reading their new story: The Bogeyman and The Trolls Next Door by Kay Umansky. The story is centred around the Bogeyman and his family, who are very happy with their home and their way of life until the noisy, nasty Trolls move in next door. They decide the only thing to do is to try and scare them off - that's what Bogeymen are supposed to do after all!

It's written in rhyme and is full of humour, so the children really enjoyed reciting lines and thinking about how to perform it. They, once again, showed their dramatic prowess in all three classes; thinking carefully about how the characters would act and even improvising what they might say!

"It's important to use your face and your body when you're acting" Jason, Ash.

"The Bogeymum has to look really angry and rude!" Ella, Larch

All of this drama has helped them understand the character's perspectives, which will certainly help in the diary entry they are writing this week. By the end of the unit, they will be writing their own narrative verse and performing it, which we are all very excited about!

"We need to act like twins having the best time of our lives!" Medeea and Aisling, Birch.

Brilliant work, year 4. As always, you worked brilliantly together and used your learning power, reciprocity, effectively. We can't wait to see all the fabulous writing you are going to produce!

Year 3 Battle of the Bands TT Rockstars - Results

Congratulations to Elm class, who were half term's winners in the Battle of the Bands!

Excellent work to the top three contributors in each class, too!

Aksanan
Praharsh
Aimen

This week, the Battle of the Bands will run from now until Wednesday evening.

Make sure you're on there every day to earn coins for your class!

In order for a class to be crowned champions, the children need to log in to their TT Rockstars account at home and play to earn as many coins as possible.

They can play as normal in Garage Mode to collect coins for their class.

The more coins they earn, the higher the chance that their class will win!

We will announce the winners on Friday 6th November along with the top three scorers from each class & their certificates. We will also do half term's winners on this date.

Good luck Year 3!

Welcome Back Year 4!

We hope you have all had a lovely week off and are excited to start our next half of the term tomorrow. We can't wait to have all the children back in the classroom ready to start learning our new topics!

We really enjoyed speaking with parents last week to share how well the children have settled into year 4. We could not be prouder of everything they have achieved already this year!

Everyone should now have a copy of the Year 4 Pupil Passport, which outlines the end of year expectations for reading, writing and maths - please let us know if you do not have this and we can send another one out.

Along with their logins for Mathletics and Timestable Rockstars, every child has now been given their Google Classroom login and we will make sure to put their spellings on there every week, so that the children are comfortable using it.

Please remember that you can email the shared inbox if you have any queries whatsoever  (year34@broadford.havering.sch.uk) or you can catch any of the class teachers outside at the end of the day.

We will continue to blog as much as we can, so that you can keep up to date with everything your child is doing in school, but please let us know if there is anything else we can help with. We would be happy to share how we teach certain things in school, so that you can support your children with their learning at home.

Thank you all for your continued support!
