Year 3 Learning Journey
Our Maths Money Mission
We’ve had a fantastic, hands-on week in Year 3 exploring the world of money!
To bring our Maths lessons to life, the children used physical coins and notes to practise identifying, sorting, and matching different values.
This tactile experience was the perfect foundation for our main challenge: adding and subtracting pounds and pence.
The children tackled real-world word problems, role-playing as shoppers and calculating totals and change.
Subtracting can be a bit of a brain-teaser, but using the physical money to "exchange" pounds for pence really helped the concepts click.
You can easily keep this learning going at home by letting your child count out coins at the shop or playing "market" with their toys.
Thank you for your brilliant support at home—our young mathematicians are making us incredibly proud!
