West Stow Anglo-Saxon village

 Year 4 had a fabulous day at West Stow Anglo-Saxon village on Tuesday 6th February. We travelled by coach and arrived at 10:30 am where we were met by Stephanie who directed us to put our lunches away and split us into two groups. Group 1 went to the museum and explored artefacts and group 2 went to the village and explored all the huts with replica artefacts for the children to handle in order to understand how the Anglo-Saxons lived. 

The children had lunch and then swapped over for group 1 to explore the village and group 2 the museum. We were incredibly proud of the behaviour of the children and the questions they asked. There really was a lot of deep thinking taking place. The children arrived home safely with a better understanding of Anglo-Saxons. 

                             

Thank you to all of you who paid to ensure the trip took place. It really was beneficial for the children to see and examine to gain an insight into Anglo-Saxons and their conquests, beliefs and burials.

Year 4 certificates

 

It has been another fantastic, fun filled week in Year 4. The children have been working hard in maths learning multiplication and division with single digits into two and three digit numbers. They also began to learn our new unit which is converting units of measurements which they had a great start to! In Literacy they have been developing their researching skills using their chrome books to find out facts about the intrepid explorer Tom Avery. The children applied their historical skills when  we visited West Stow Anglo-Saxon village on Tuesday, more photos to follow!

This week several children have shone exceptionally bright and earned a certificate. Well done to all of them.

Year 3 Certificates 09.02.24

 

Year 3 have had another fantastic week as we near the end of this half term. This week has been extremely busy as we have celebrated football week! To show our passion for football we used this weeks P.E lesson to hold our own football tournaments. The children loved playing football as a change this week and showed fantastic sportsmanship in their games. We also designed our own England football shirts. 

This week we have also celebrated children's mental health week. We have spread awareness for children's mental health by dressing up for our ' dress to express ' day. As well as this, we used one of our PSHE lessons to take part in some fantastic activities and support all of our pupils in having positive mental health.

Marvellous Musicians in Year 3

 

This term in Year 3, the children have been learning the song 'Three little birds' by Bob Marley, as part of our Charanga music scheme. 

Three Little Birds is a song by Bob Marley and The Wailers. It is the fourth track on side two of their 1977 album Exodus and was released as a single in 1980. It is one of Bob Marley's most popular songs. The song has been covered by numerous other artists.

The charanga material presents an integrated approach to music where games, elements of music (pulse, rhythm, pitch etc.) and singing are all linked. As well as learning to sing, play, improvise and compose with this song, the children have listened and appraised other Reggae songs.

All children have demostrated great resilence and receprocity, working together to learn and perform this new song.
