Year 4 Nativity Visit

 Ths week Year 4 were fortunate enough to take a trip to Elim Church in Romford. 

When we arrived we were greeted by a beautiful Nativity scene. 

After taking our seats, we were invited onto the stage to participate in a quiz. We used our reciprocity skills  to work together and try an answer the multiple choice questions. While competing we learned quite a few facts about the Christmas story. 

Following this, we realised why not all the characters were on stage. Some of us  had to play the parts. 

We got dressed up in the costumes they provided and took to the stage to act out the story. 

We had a wonderful afternoon and thank Elim Church for hosting us.

Year 4, Willow Class - Swimming Permissions

 

In the Spring Term, Willow Class will be commencing their swimming lessons at the Central Park Leisure Centre. 

First lesson: Wednesday 8th January 2025

All parents/carers, please complete this Google Form to give permission.

They will have one half an hour session each week in a block. 

Elm Class: Summer Term date to be confirmed in Spring Term

Each class should get roughly 10 sessions each (STC) which will ensure they achieve the swimming requirements of the national curriculum in KS2 which are to:

- swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters
- use a range of strokes effectively
- perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations

The children will leave school in the afternoon, accompanied by Year 4 staff, and we will make our way to Central Park Leisure Centre on foot. We will return to school before the end of the school day.

Your child will need:

• Swimming costume or swimming trunks (no bikinis please!)

• A towel

• A named bag to carry and store their items in

• A swimming hat 

• Goggles (not essential, but can be worn if preferred)

Children should come to school in their uniform and will get changed when we arrive at Central Park Leisure Centre. Please note, no aerosols or powders should be given to children, as these can cause problems for children with asthma.

All children, regardless of ability, will be taking part in swimming lessons as they are a National Curriculum requirement. Children will only be exempt from lessons with a signed and dated doctor’s note or certificate.

Year 4 Elm Class - Forest School Date Change

 

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please note that due to Christmas rehearsals, Elm will now be doing their Forest School Christmas Activity on Friday afternoon.

Clothing for Forest School should be in school at all times, in a carrier bag with the child's name on, and hung on the pegs outside your classrooms.

Year 4 Christmas Play Costumes

 

Dear Parents/Carers,

You should have received a letter in the last few weeks if your child requires a costume for their Christmas Play.

This costume is ideally required for this week due to us filming their dress rehearsals, if they can be brought in and given to the Class Teacher as possible that would be great.

Your child should know what part they are in the play. 

Here are some costume ideas:

Shepherd: tea towel, sheet with arms cut out, belt, sandals

Sheep: anything fluffy and white 

Narrator: smart outfit, shirt, dress, trousers

Angel: sheet with hole cut out, tinsel

If your child does not have a named part, they are welcome to bring in any Christmas item e.g. jumper, headwear.

Your child will have come home with a letter with two tickets on this evening, please bring these with you on the night.

Year 4 Team

Year 3 Visit

 

As part of our school trips to enhance learning, Year 3 will be visiting a local Synagogue.

As the Synagogue cannot accommodate all 90 children at the same time, we will be visiting over two days.

The dates of the visits are:

Monday 16th December 2024 - Cherry class, half of Cedar Class

Tuesday 17th December 2024 - Ash Class, half of Cedar Class

If your child is in Cedar Class, your child will have a letter that states which day they will be attending.

We will be returning back to school between 11.30 -11.45 so the children will have their lunch in school as normal.
