Year 4 Trip to West Stow on 6th February 2024

  19th January 2024

Dear Parents/carers,

Year 4 pupils have started an exciting new topic this term in history studying the Anglo-Saxons.
As part of this topic, they will be visiting West Stow Anglo-Saxon village in West Suffolk  on the 6th February 2024 and taking part in discussions, handling replica objects and studying the construction of the buildings. There was actually an Anglo-Saxon village on this site between the 5th and 7th century!

The children will be travelling by coach and will need to arrive in school promptly at 8:30am. The children must wear school uniform and a coat.

They will be given a packed lunch but they can bring their own in a named disposable bag; this should not include fizzy drinks or glass bottles. We will be leaving West Stow village at 2:00pm and will return for the end of school. The children will need to be collected from outside their classrooms as normal. Should we get delayed on the return journey we will contact the school office and inform them of our new time of arrival.

We are asking for a contribution of £12.50 which will go towards the cost of the coach and the workshop the children will be attending. Below are the prices for the day:

Child ticket- £6.00 per child - £540 in total

Cost of coach- £14.20 per child- £1,280.00 in total

As you can see the coach cost is very high and we need to ensure that we have sufficient funds to cover this as we may have to consider cancelling the trip. The trip is incredibly beneficial to the children and we would like to include this in our year 4 trips and experiences moving forward.

The £12.50 contribution will be automatically added to your ‘Squid’ account. Any questions regarding this payment, please see the school office. They will be happy to set up a payment plan should you wish to spread the cost.

In order to give permission for your child to attend please click here: Permission Form

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Whiten Year 4 group lead                                    Miss Hannan

Mrs Cocks/Mrs Bambgoye                                           Miss Khodadad
