Year 3 Life Skills: DIY and Everyday Independence
Our Year 3 children learnt amazing DIY skills this
half term. They covered skills like tying shoe laces,
health snack choices, using a tape measure, setting
a table, using cutlery sets ,making a breakfast bar (non-cooked),
fire safety, knowing escape routes and smoke alarms.
Tying Shoe Laces
Our children watched a demonstration of how to
tie shoe laces. Thereafter, they practised how to get their
tied.
Health Snack Choices
Another of the life skills topics was healthy snack
choices. The children learnt the difference between
healthy and unhealthy snacks with the importance
of eating healthy snacks.
Using a tape measure
Yet another skill taught was how to measure things
using a tape measure. Again, the children had plenty
of practice as shown below.
Setting a Table and Using Cutlery Set
Next came setting a table and using cutlery sets
correctly. It was a joy to watch our children
setting tables and learning to use cutlery sets correctly.
Making a breakfast bar (non-cooked)
Additionally, our pupils learn to make
scrumptious delicious non - cooked breakfast bars.
Fire Safety
Furthermore, they learnt about fire safety
and knowing escapes routes and smoke alarms.
