Year 4 Celebrate Cultural Day

 Year 4 Celebrates Cultural Day

Year 4 had a truly wonderful time celebrating the rich diversity within our school during Cultural Day. The classroom was filled with colour, excitement, and curiosity as children arrived dressed in outfits that represented their nationality or cultural heritage.

In the morning, children were given the opportunity to share interesting facts about their home countries. They spoke proudly about traditions, languages, food, landmarks, and celebrations that are important to them and their families.

One of the highlights of the day was learning a traditional Turkish dance. The children were taught the individual steps and practised them carefully, showing great focus and enthusiasm. Once they felt more confident, they combined the steps to create a simple routine. It was wonderful to see everyone working together, supporting one another, and enjoying the rhythm and movement of the dance.

The second activity of the day took the children on an exciting journey into Greek culture and traditions. They explored fascinating aspects of Greece, from its rich history and mythology to its unique customs, food, and celebrations. To wrap up the activity, they took part in a fun quiz that tested their new knowledge. The quiz brought lots of energy and laughter, while also helping reinforce what they had learned in a memorable way.

The third activity focused on learning about the Christian Easter story. The children explored how the events unfolded, gaining an understanding of the significance of Easter for Christians around the world. They listened thoughtfully and engaged in discussions, showing respect and curiosity as they learned about this important religious celebration.

As well as this, the children were very lucky to have some Romanian parents visit to share their culture. They spoke to the children about traditions and customs from Romania and very kindly brought in some traditional food for everyone to taste. This was a wonderful experience, and the children thoroughly enjoyed trying something new while learning directly from members of our school community.

Cultural Day was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate diversity, build understanding, and bring our Year 4 community even closer together. We are incredibly proud of how the children embraced the day with enthusiasm, respect, and a genuine interest in one another’s backgrounds.
