Year 3 - Mystery Workshop

Both classes had great fun last week in our mystery workshops.  During literacy the children have been working on mystery stories, so far they have been reading them and unpicking them looking at the key features.  They were working towards writing their own mystery stories and this workshop was a great way to channel all their ideas and help them create their own mystery stories whilst acting them out using the props.  The children also got an opportunity to perform the stories to one another.  They had to work collaboratively reinforcing the 4R's in particular reciprocity and resourcefulness.

Well done children, for super team work!

Play scripts in year 4

Year 4’s new Literacy unit is Playscripts and we have been enthusiastically learning about all the different conventions. Students know that stage directions are given in brackets and have been putting their acting skills to the test by acting out these instructions. Children have been busy writing their own scripts based on our guided reading book ‘There’s a boy in the girls bathroom’ and we can’t wait to read them!!

Here we have Isabelle, Riley, Vinnie, Bonnie, Ollie, Megan and Keira getting into character and acting out the example text. They received a huge round of applause due to their terrific scene!

Year 4 Self-led Rainforest Projects

To finish off our rainforest topic, year 4 students have been working together or individually to create a project of their choice all about the rainforest. Students have used their resourcefulness skills to conduct their own research, creating posters, word searches, maps and google slides to display their knowledge in wonderful and informative ways.

Lunch with the teachers (year 4)

This week it was Florence,  Kara and Hayden who had lunch with Miss Hamlin.  We enjoyed talking about our family traditions for Easter, shared funny and embarrassing stories and our siblings (all good things!). Thank you children for doing your best in every lesson and congratulations on reaching 175 dojo points!!
