Year 3 Stay and Learn Success!

Yesterday's Stay and Learn was a great success across the year group! With more than 20 parents turning up, the children were delighted to show off both their written work in topic books and their knowledge of volcanoes, earthquakes, and the Ancient Egyptians.

After a brief introduction, parents, carers, and students tackled a challenging quiz which gave an insight into how topic lessons are run in class. Some parents found it especially tricky, and yes Mrs Wright, you did deserve an E for Excellence certificate and we will give you more revision time next time!

We hope everyone had fun and that the event has deepened your understanding of what your children are learning about. Thank you to everyone who joined us and for being such great sports!

Have a relaxing weekend and get those reading records signed for Monday!

Miss Taylor, Mr Nicol, Miss Metters, Ms Bradley, and Mrs Marchant  x :)

Isabelle and John enjoy a special lunch with the teachers!

What a treat Miss Hamlin and Miss Estall had this week! We had the pleasure of dining with Isabelle and John to celebrate their outstanding behaviour in class. As part of Birch's class rewards, when students get to a certain number of dojo points they get to eat their lunch in class with the teachers. We had a lovely lunch talking about gymnastics, hair, school, future jobs, football and outer space! The year 4 teachers definitely enjoyed having some relaxed time to talk with the children about whatever they fancied! Well done :)

Year 3 start FRACTIONS!

On Monday, Year 3 attacked their latest maths unit: FRACTIONS! There was a lot to take in and we endeavored to make it as fun as possible. The first few days were spent playing mathematical games with the aim of embedding the basic concepts of fractions.  Next week we will move on to
exploring tenths.

Guided reading superstars!

Naz and Rayne have really impressed Miss Estall with their great use of their self led session this week. The girls used their chromebooks to write their own blurbs for our guided reading book - There's a boy in the girls' bathroom. Both girls have demonstrated that they are avid learners by choosing to complete this task in their own time and included lots of great detail. They clearly have a great understanding of our class text and were able to answer many different questions about it.
Well done, Naz and Rayne!
