Year 3's Fantastic Fractions!

Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic fractions lesson on Friday! They were able to consolidate all of their fraction knowledge from this term and worked in groups to complete different activities. Their favourite game was tenths and decimals bingo, where they had to answer questions and see if they had the right answer to win bingo!

We are super proud of their hard work and enthusiasm!

Super Solving Scientists

In Year 4, we have been studying States of Matter this term and have researched how we can define the different states we experience in our world every day. This week in Science, we have explored solids, liquids and gasses. The children were discussing and exploring what solids, liquids and gasses may look like. It was so interesting to hear about the observations that children have made through their experiments and how well they investigated.

"When you blow into water mixed with soap, the bubbles getter bigger and bigger. The bubbles have air in the which is gas," David, Birch.

"When you blow into the water (which is a liquid), it ripples and moves away," Courtney, Birch.

"I know that you can't see gases by themselves but you can see them in solids and liquids sometimes, like in our experiments," Tavia, Larch.

Well done to you all on your reciprocity and resourcefulness skills being used so scientifically Year Four!

Dazzling Drama in Year Four!

This week, Year Four created some impressive dramas based on our story "Sugarcane Juice". Each group wrote a plan for their script, including stage directions, and performed a table read before bringing their drama to life. Glue sticks became glasses of sugarcane juice, chairs became bus seats and our students transformed into the characters of the story. A huge well done to all for the Reciprocity they showed within their groups and the dramatic, powerful performances they gave us.

"I want to include more characters from the story to make it more interesting so I'm going to play two roles," Mia, Birch.

"We're going to have a narrator to set the scene," Nana, Larch.

"We need to show a change in Hamids character because he is scared in the end and wants to go home," Gurrehmat, Ash.

"I need to speak loud and clear when I am performing so that everyone can hear me," David, Birch.

"Hamid needs to talk very fast and tell the bus driver about everything that happened with him. It shows he is frustrated," Jason, Ash.

Year 3 are transported back to the Victorian times!

Yesterday, the children in Year 3 took part in a Victorian workshop. In topic this term in Year 3 we have been learning all about childhood throughout different periods of time.

We have learnt all about what it was like for children in ancient Mayan times, the Victorian era and  children's experiences during World War 2.

The Year 3 children took part in an interactive workshop which took them through a day in the life of a Victorian maid. The children learnt all about different Victorian jobs around the home and what life was like without electricity! At the end of the workshop the children were taught some dance steps to a popular Victorian song!

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and fully engaged with all of the role playing activities!
