At Broadford Primary, we explored this year's theme for Black History Month, 'Reclaiming Narratives'.
The message of acknowledging the journeys of cultures and taking charge of how you want to remembered echoed throughout the school and we chose to make a music video to the song 'Golden' by Jill Scott.
From Nursery to Year 6, our Broadford children are bringing joy to our screens.
This half term in music Year 3 have been revising all of the skills we have learnt through the course of the year. In our lessons we start by listening to an unfamiliar piece of music and analysing it. We discuss what instruments we can hear, what time period we think it is from, if we think it tells a story and finally, we say whether or like we like the music.
Then, we reflect in our previous learning by looking back on old songs. We share what we remember about the songs and their composers and finish our lesson by singing one of our favourite songs of the year.
Well done to all the children in Year 3 who have worked hard to develop their beat, rhythm and singing ability. You have grown into amazing musicians with beautiful voices - thank you for the music!
I love listening to music and trying to guess the instruments! - Cherry
I like when we warm up our voices and find the pulse! - Ash
I love the rhythm of ‘The three little birds’ song’ !- Cedar
This term in Year 3, the children have been learning the song 'Three little birds' by Bob Marley, as part of our Charanga music scheme.
Three Little Birds is a song by Bob Marley and The Wailers. It is the fourth track on side two of their 1977 album Exodus and was released as a single in 1980. It is one of Bob Marley's most popular songs. The song has been covered by numerous other artists.
The charanga material presents an integrated approach to music where games, elements of music (pulse, rhythm, pitch etc.) and singing are all linked. As well as learning to sing, play, improvise and compose with this song, the children have listened and appraised other Reggae songs.
All children have demostrated great resilence and receprocity, working together to learn and perform this new song.
