Year 4's video submissions so far...

Thank you to Iniya and her dad, and Aarna for being the first people to submit their National Storytelling Week videos. Your reading is exemplary!

A reminder that the videos should be posted by latest Monday (08.02.21) so that Miss Young can edit and post them to the YouTube channel.

Make sure you check the rota, access the book, and upload your video to the Google Drive Folder (check the original blog post to see what your video should look like and how to upload).

If you have any questions, please email year34@broadford.havering.sch.uk

Last Chance to Participate in Year 4's National Storytelling Week!

Only a few chapters left available; this is your last chance to participate in National Storytelling Week!

Fill in the form to take part.

Please check the rota to see you and your parent/carer's slot. You can access the book on Google Classroom or here

Then, practise reading (and if you are reading with your parent/carer, practise with them!) until you're comfortable. Then, film yourself landscape and towards the side of the shot.

Upload it to the Google Drive Folder by Friday (05.02.21).

The videos will be edited and posted to the Broadford Primary School's YouTube Channel soon to celebrate National Storytelling Week!

If you have any other questions, please read the original blogpost, or email year34@broadford.havering.sch.uk

Year 4's National Storytelling Week Rota

Year 4, we are so impressed with how many of you have shown such an interest in National Storytelling Week. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who filled in the form and have agreed to read with their child - thank you so much for your courage! (In case you missed it, please read the blog post from yesterday).

We have organised a rota which lets you know what part you are reading (you can access the book on Google Classroom and here.) If you are not reading with your parent/carer, then check Google Classroom to see which pages we want you to read.

When filming, make sure your video is landscape and that you are towards the side, like below. This is because Miss Young will need to edit your video to put up the text.

Then, upload your video to the Google Drive Folder. Please read this blog to see how you can do it. Make sure you upload your video to the folder by Friday (05.02.21). The videos will be edited and released on the following Monday.

If you are interested in participating National Storytelling Week, please ask your parent/carer to fill in the form so we can get you on the rota!

Year 4 takes on National Storytelling Week!

This week is National Story Telling Week. We want to do more than just read to you... we want to involve YOU (and possibly your parents/carers) in the reading too!

In Year 4 we have chosen one of our 105 Books to Read Before You Leave Broadford: Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet by Zanib Mian and illustrated by Nasaya Mafaridik. It follows a boy called Omar...who is a magnet for trouble! Each chapter is a story of Omar's shenanigans...

Here's how it will work:
  1. Your parent/carer will fill in the form to consent your video uploading to the YouTube channel.
  2. Find out on this document which pages you will be reading. Teachers will send you a few pages of the book on Google Classroom.
  3. Practise reading it before you film yourself; the book is full of crazy illustrations and bolded words! You'll need your wildest expressions...
  4. Film yourself when you are ready. Find a comfortable place (you can get all your toys and pillows in the background too!) Make sure it is filmed landscape, and you are placed towards the side of the shot (as Miss Young will edit your video to put a picture of the text on the other side; see below for examples)
  5. Upload your video to the Google Drive Folder. (Take a look at the pictures below to see how you can upload a file)
  6. All the video clips will then be edited and compiled together so that a YouTube playlist will go up on the Broadford YouTube channel for everyone to see and share!

This year, Year 4 are so excited to have a community of readers reading during National Storytelling Week. Parents and carers, you are more than welcome to join in and read as well! The last question on the form consents yourself to be uploaded to the YouTube channel. Joining in will be a huge deal for all the children, and will get them excited to continue reading! Thank you in advance for putting yourself out there; we truly appreciate it.

If you have any questions, please email us at year34@broadford.havering.sch.uk
