The children have also been busy celebrating British Science Week, which had a focus on change and adapt. During the week, the children took part in a number of different activities including completing a scientific experiment all about toilet paper!

Well done to everyone for taking part, you are all super scientists!

Year 3 Certificates 14.02.25

Well done to our wonderful Year 3 pupils in their final week of school!

We have had a very busy week with some seriously fun learning. In Literacy, pupils have worked hard to create their independent balanced arguments, debating whether Peter should read the book of immortality or not.

In Maths, we been experimenting with 'how many ways' looking at different combinations of items such as snacks, clothing and even ice creams!

Finally, in Science we completed our first solo experiment of the academic year! We tested different soils to find which absorbed the most water. Year 3 all worked very hard and showed high quality reciprocity skills to work well in teams.

For the final time this half term, let's celebrate our certificate winners!

Well done year 3 on a brilliant week of hard work!

This week in Literacy, we have been writing our balanced arguments, ending with our opinion stating if we think Peter should have given up his search for the book of immortality.

In Math, we have continued dividing a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. This week, we looked at dividing using flexible partitioning and with remainders. We used lolly sticks to divide by 3, 4 and 5 creating shapes. Any lolly sticks we had left over would be the reminder!

Well done to our certificate winners for the week!

It's been another wonderful week of learning in Year 3.and this is what we have been learning about this week.

In Maths, the children continued to extend their knowledge of addition and subtraction using the column method. The children were able to add and subtract two numbers whilst crossing hundreds. Great work Year 3!

Year 3 Certificates

It's been another wonderful week of learning in Year 3 and the children have been working hard and have made excellent progress in their learning.

In Literacy, the children suggested ways to help their partner overcome their fear of the dark. They then created an adverb word bank to help them improve their writing of a letter to the King. This letter suggested ways that the King could overcome his fear of the dark.

In Maths,  the children built upon their existing knowledge of the column method. They worked on questions which involved adding and subtraction 2 numbers with no exchange. It was wonderful to see the children bursting with pride at their progress in this area. Well done!

It's been another wonderful week of learning in Year 3 and the children have been working hard and have made excellent progress in their learning.

In Literacy, the children were introduced to their new book for this half term 'The King who banned the dark'. The children used their inference skills to predict what would happen in the story, before forming questions about the story that they would like to find the answer to by the end of this half term. Excellent work Year 3!

In Maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge of adding and subtracting across ones, tens and hundreds. The children were able to draw number lines in their books to help them answer some tricky questions. Well done Year 3.

Year 3 Certificates

It's been an excellent week in Year 3 and the children have been working hard across all of their subjects to make progress in their learning before the Half Term break.

In Literacy, the children used their knowledge of our story for this half term, 'A Tale of Two Robots', to write an alternative story as part of an independent piece of writing. It was lovely to see so many children using their imagination to bring these alternative stories to life whilst also ensuring that they challenge themselves to use expanded noun phrases, inverted commas and paragraphs effectively in their writing.

In Maths, the children have been learning to add and subtract ones across a ten using the steps to success to aid their learning. They then applied this knowledge to adding and subtracting across a hundred to great effect. Super job Year 3!

In Literacy, the pupils have been introduced to their book for this half term 'A Tale of Two Robots' and have produced a blurb to engage their readers. They then discussed the main character, Callum, and produced a description based on his personality, looks, likes and dislikes.

In Maths, the children have been using dienes and part whole models to build upon their previous knowledge of place value and partitioning numbers. It has been wonderful to see how hard they have worked and we look forward to seeing such great resilience again next week! Well done Year 3!
