Year 3's Jubilee Celebrations!

This week Broadford have been celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of our beloved Queen and Year 3 have focused on the fantastic era of the 1980s!

We started by introducing a beloved song from the 80s 'Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves' in which the children learned to sing and dance to the song! They were very keen to introduce some new moves to the song and loved how upbeat it was.

Then, we moved on to look at the outfits during the 1980s. The children were fascinated as to how different clothes were to how they are now! They noticed how colourful they were and loved designing their own outfits for children today.

On Thursday, the children came into school wearing red, white and blue to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. They then wrote a letter to the Queen, celebrating her Platinum Jubilee and asking lots of different questions. Some were very keen to ask the Queen to come to visit them at Broadford! Later that day, the year group decorated some scrumptious cupcakes and biscuits for the Platinum Jubilee. We then enjoyed an amazing bake sale and we are all so thankful for everyone's generosity.

All of the children demonstrated their resourcefulness and reflectiveness skills this week and we are super proud of them!

'It was so fun creating the 1980s outfits!' - Shivanshi

'I loved decorating cupcakes and biscuits!' - Macie

'I hope the Queen reads my letter.' - Max

'We loved red, white and blue day!' - Rosie

'I enjoyed the Jubilee party outside!' - Ipsa

We think you are AMAZING!

Wow! What a fantastic and successful bake sale. The year 3 team are so grateful for all of your generous donations. Miss Thomas is particularly thankful for all of your generosity towards her fundraising event.

When we find out how much we raised, we will post a blog to let you all know. St Francis Hospice are going to be so thankful for all of your help and so impressed with the kindness of all of the parents.

Thank you so much again!

Year 4's Jubilee Celebration!

This week Year Four have been celebrating the grand Platinum Jubilee of our beloved Queen by learning about the 1970s and her reign and the history of that decade.

We studied the inventions of the 1970s (and made our teachers feel old!). We also designed our own fashion models using inspiration from 1970s iconic styles and trends. Our choir representatives even performed in the whole school assembly, singing about the queen.

Today, we have been cooking English food from the 1970s to truly immerse ourselves in the history.
Dressed in our blue, white and red, Year Four had tons of fun and showed brilliant resourcefulness and reciprocity when preparing - and eating!

We finished our day with the wonderful game of rounders. We began to learn how to bat, bowl, field and even some top-notch cheerleading!
