University of Broadford: Comfy Cushions

COMFY CUSHIONS

Ambitious Aims

During the 10 weeks in Comfy Cushions, the children will create an original design and learn the skill they need to create their very own cushion. They will bring their cushion home at the end of the course, displaying their achievements and all their hard work.

Amazing Activities

  • Week 1- Look at a range of cushion designs and begin to gather ideas.

  • Week 2- Draw and label their final design and put together a list of resources they will need.

  • Week 3-Draw their design on card and then on to their chosen fabric.

  • Week 4- Begin to cut out their design.

  • Week 5- Finish cutting out their design and pin it on to their cushion fabric.

  • Week 6- Begin to use an embroidery stitch, to stitch the design to the cushion.

  • Week 7- Complete stitching the design to the cushion.

  • Week 8- Begin stitching the cushion cover together, using a blanket stitch.

  • Week 9- Continue stitching the cushion together using a blanket stitch.

  • Week 10- Add the final touches/detail to the cushion.

Fantastic Finale

At the end of the course, the children will showcase their work to their

family and friends.

This will include all of the steps, from their initial ideas,

up to their completed product.

Reminder - England Rocks! 14.11.22

We are very excited to announce this years England Rocks competition! The competition will be held between Monday 14th November - Wednesday 16th November. This is a competition held on times table rock stars (TTRS), an application that the children are familiar with, to practice their times tables.

On Monday 14th November, we are welcoming children and teachers to dress up as their favourite rock stars! Some have said they even want to copy their TTRS avatar and we are very excited to see their favourite costumes.

At school, we will celebrate the top 3 most valuable players within the school in the E for E assembly and each year group will also announce the top 3 most valuable players in their year.

Every correct answer that a student gives, in any game type, between the hours of 7:30am to 7:30pm each day within the competition period will contribute to their class and school score. There is a 60 minute time limit playtime per player, per day. Those 60 minutes do not need to be played in one block - they can be spread throughout each day.

We can't wait to rock with you!
