Fabulous French in Year 3

Over the past two weeks the children have been learning their French numbers up to 20. The children have watched videos and learnt songs to aid their learning. They have used their reciprocity skills to work together as a group to complete challenges as well as showing great resilience when completing their matching pair number game.

Over the next few weeks the children will be learning about French greetings and having conversations in small groups.

" Un, deux, trois is one, two, three !" Roman - Cedar Class

"I love learning my French numbers !" - Ayaan - Elm Class

"I can count forwards and backwards in French !" - Saffiyah - Cherry Class

Year 3 Certificates 30.9.22

What a fantastic week in year 3!

In Maths, they have started their new topic, addition and subtraction. The children have been demonstrating their resourcefulness skills by using place value charts, dienes and counters to learn all about adding and subtracting 1s and 10s.

In Literacy, the children have been creating and planning their very own characters and their own setting to write their own version of 'A Tale of Two Robots!' We cannot wait for them to start writing their stories on Monday.

In RE, they used their reciprocity skills and worked together to think of questions they would ask Mother Teresa.

After a super week, let's give our week 4 certificate winners a spec-tacular!

E for Excellence - Jessica, Emmy and Fariha.

Star Writer - Laynie, Elkah and Sophie.

Teacher Happy - Tianna and George.

4R's - Kamari, Elliot , Darcie, Olivia and Elliot.

Have a great weekend and we cannot wait to see you all on Monday!

Year 4 Literacy

In Literacy, Year 4 have been reading How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. They have been working hard to imagine the different feelings and emotions the characters go through. This week they have role played a scene from the story. The children worked in groups of three, and created their own narrator scripts. They had lots of fun showing off their acting skills and re-enacted scenes from the book using lots of expression and creativity!

"I loved writing my own script for the scene" - Oliver

"I liked pretending to be a dragon because I've always wanted to be one" - Asad

"Acting the scene was so fun, I felt confident when I presented in front of the rest of the class" - Niamh

Stone Age in Year 3

On Tuesday 4th October, Year 3 will be immersed in a Stone Age workshop that will be visiting the school for the day.

The children will be exploring what life was like during the Stone Age, through the interactive workshop, which will take us through the timeline of mankind and the important developments that have made us who we are today.

The Stone Age workshop gives children the opportunity to discuss, play games, take part in activities and explore artifacts from the Stone Age.

On the day, the children can dress up as someone from the Stone Age or wear their school uniform. Please see below for ideas of what to wear.

Dressing as Celts

Spike up your hair. Paint spiral designs on your face and arms with blue face paint. Girls and boys can be warriors.

If you want to be a high status or rich Celt, make a gold TORC to wear around your neck. Rich Britons wore chain mail. This you can make from onion bags sprayed silver .These you can get from local supermarkets or greengrocers. Make a shield from a large piece of strong cardboard and paint with spiral designs or copy the designs here. Put a strip of strong card across the back of your shield to use as a handle. The shield should cover from you chest to your knees. Most Celts fought with spears. Only very rich Celts had swords. (Maximum sword length is 50cms.) Only use cardboard to make any weapons.
