Year 4 Subject Blog - PSHE

This half term, we are learning about building healthy relationships and understanding our feelings.

Our learning connects closely with our 4 Rs. Through Resourcefulness, children build a "toolbox" of safe strategies to handle tricky situations and peer pressure. Practising Reciprocity, we focus on communication, learning how to be respectful, assertive, and supportive friends. We show Reflectiveness by understanding uncomfortable emotions and spotting "red flags" in unhealthy relationships. Finally, children show Resilience by recognising bullying and knowing when to seek help from a trusted adult.

"I learned how to be a great friend by using respectful words and showing empathy!" - Theodore, Elm

"Creating our class toolbox of safe strategies made me feel really confident!" - Jack, Maple

"It was so helpful to learn about red flags in friendships and knowing who my trusted adults are." - Emma, Willow

PSHE Curriculum: Growing and Changing 2025

After half term, the children at Broadford Primary School will all be focusing on ‘Growing and Changing’. This part of the programme is designed to help children make healthy choices and keep themselves safe during their school years and beyond.

From September 2020 relationships education became a legal requirement; parts of sex education were already legal requirements before this time, within the National Curriculum. The design of the programme has taken into account the requirements of the statutory guidance, up-to-date best practice guidance, and the needs of our children

Please find below information specific for your child. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher.
