Year 3 Certificates
It's been an excellent week in Year 3 and the children have been working hard to make progress in their learning.
Let's look at the story of this week...
In Maths, the children continued to look at adding and subtracting numbers using the column method. They started the week by adding and subtracting two numbers across a ten, before challenging themselves to repeat the process when crossing hundreds. It was excellent to see every child make meaningful progress this week. Well done all!
This weeks certificate winners are...
E for Excellence - Freya, Daisy and Elliot
Star Writer - Ashar, Matthew and Jessica
Year 3- WILD Passport!
Today our learners set off on a true outdoor adventure as part of their WILD Passport Day! The morning kicked off with den making, where the children discovered why shelters are so important and experimented with different ways to build them. They worked together to create sturdy shelters and learn more about knots!
Their creativity didn’t stop there—after exploring human shelters, the children investigated shelters found in nature. They studied how animals build their homes and even had a go at crafting their very own bird nests, carefully shaping twigs, leaves, and mud just like real woodland architects!
In the afternoon, the excitement continued with an orienteering challenge. The children navigated around the school grounds, hunting for hidden insects and using their growing navigation skills to track each one down.
It was a day full of teamwork, exploration, and outdoor magic—one the children won’t forget in a hurry!
Reminder for Parents:
Please ensure your child brings the following for next time:
Wellies
Waterproof coat and/or waterproofs
Jumper
Spare trousers (school trousers cannot be worn during the session)

Scarf
Year 3- Learning journey
Last week in maths, the children were practising how to use the column method to add two- and three-digit numbers without exchanging. We focused on the importance of setting out the method correctly, making sure each digit is placed neatly in the correct column.
The children learnt why it’s essential to start with the ones column first before moving on to the tens and hundreds. This helped them build accuracy and confidence when adding two numbers together. Everyone worked brilliantly, showing care in their presentation and beginning to use the method independently.
