Exploring the Stone Age through History and Literacy
This week, we have been travelling back in time to the Stone Age! Through our class book “The Stone Age Boy” by Satoshi Kitamura, we imagined what life was like for early humans and how they lived thousands of years ago.
In History, we explored key vocabulary linked to the Stone Age, such as prehistoric, tools, cave, hunter-gatherer, and shelter. During Literacy, the children completed a research task, using information texts to find out more about this fascinating period. They also created their own questions about the Stone Age, such as How did people make their tools? and What did they eat if there were no shops? The children then started to create their own fact files!
The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm, making thoughtful links between their reading, research, and understanding of history.
