This half term, the Book Club was open to Years 5 and 6 and we have been studying the Michael Morpurgo classic, 'War Horse'.
We have read the book and studied different aspects of the story, from the language used to create imagery and effect, to the various plot triggers that keep the story so engaging.
Last week, we watched a BBC news item about the famous Flanders Field of World War 1 (a period in which the story is set) and used the information and description used to create our own 'War Haiku' poems.
Louise Pauis went the extra mile and produced 3 Haiku poems, learned them by heart and performed them on our school field to emulate the scene of Flanders Field.
Take a look at her performance:
Thank you also to Junior Makina, David Sangojinmi, Louise Straw, Raheem Miah, Jordan Crane, Fletcher Marney, Jack Ibbunson, Mia-Rose Stevens, Elizabeth King and Emmanuel Pala for their hard work and dedication to Book Club this term - enjoy your well earned day out in London today to see the show!

Snow Play!
After our snow day on Monday, we thought it would just be cruel to not have a bit of fun in the snow altogether on Tuesday!
Years 3/4 went out on to the field and very quickly engaged in a snow man competition. The children loved getting out and enjoying the snow together with children from other classes and of course, getting Miss Fox with some snow balls really made their day!

Road Safety Week
On the first week of term Year 3/4 were lucky enough to watch the play 'Car Story' performed in school.
All week we had been learning about how to be safe when crossing roads or when being driven in cars, with practical activities to explore and discuss in our PSHE and PE lessons.
The message was really brought to life when we saw the dramatic performance of 'Car Story', where we learned what the consequences can be if you rush your journey and don't pay attention to the road and cars around you.
We also enjoyed getting up and having some fun with the performers and took part in creating a rap song to help us remember to look and listen when crossing roads.
