This week, years 3 and 4 have been busy working hard to prepare for their Roman Banquet. They have been preparing maths challenges using Roman numerals, measuring fabric for togas, weighing ingredients for their bread rolls, writing out recipes and menus and creating posters advertising the event!
They are all now very excited to hear the parents feedback from the day.

Lucy's Project on Ancient Rome
Lucy has spent her weekend researching, collecting and producing this wonderful project on Ancient Rome, which contains interesting facts about the Colosseum, Julius Caeser, Romulus and Remus and the Celt Queen Boudicca!
She Has found her favourite 5 facts about each of these topics and then presented them neatly in a word documant accompanied by pictures.
Did you know that the month of July was named after Julius Caeser?
Did you know that Boudicca's name means 'victory'?
Well you do now!
Well done for going the extra mile Lucy! Another project superstar!

September WoW Badges
The Junior Road Safety Officers have had a busy lunchtime giving out the September WoW badges to children who have been walking to school once a week.
If you walk to school make sure that you record the days that walk in your diary and bring it into school. The JRSO's will then give you the badge that you deserve!
Project Superstar
Take a look at Natalie's amazing artwork!
She has been researching the battle of Boudicca and has produced a fantastic watercolour painting depicting the battle.
She has put a lot of time and effort into her project and now she receives the project superstar certificate! Well done Natalie!

A step back in time...
Today, year 3 & 4 had an exciting Roman themed day!
We were transported back to Celtic Britain this morning and learned all about Celtic life, what women, men and children did (make clothes, farm and fight), their helmets and what happened when the Romans invaded! We even got to see their clothes, masks and shields.
Here are some pictures:
We then visited Rome and learned to say 'Good morning teacher' in Latin and how Roman children learned maths using an Abacus.
We also learned about Roman life, buying and selling in Roman markets, what servants would do, what jobs they would (wig makers!), what they would eat and how they used to cook, musical instruments, what shoes and clothes they would wear, sanitation and how they would capture slaves.
In the afternoon, we met some Roman centurions! We were very impressed by their armour and shields! They told us why they invaded Britain, the weapons they used (slings, spears, caltrops), how to march in a Roman legion and how to throw spears and arrows.
We had a fantastic day - have a look at our photos from the day:
