In Maths, the children have ended the week with their end of unit test on multiplication and division so far! Well done to them all.

Year 3 - Monday 12th December

Good morning Year 3.

As school is closed today, the Year 3 teachers have been thinking about some activities that can keep you busy and your learning on track!

Reading - can you read a book or a newspaper article and summarise what has happened?

Maths - Can you recall your 4 and 8 times tables? Challenge yourself on Rockstars or challenge someone that you are with, taking turns to recite them. Can you write them in the snow?

Literacy - Put yourself in the role of a reporter and write a newspaper article about the school closing due to the snow.

The most important activity of the day is to have fun! If you build a snowman or manage to get out to play please send us a picture.

Stay safe and stay warm and have an amazing day of fun in the snow!

Any questions please email us: year3@broadford.havering.sch.uk

Year 3 Certificates 9.12.22

Well done to all of Year 3 this week, you have all worked tremendously hard.

In Maths, the children have been developing their understanding of multiplying by 4/8, dividing by 4/8 and their 4 times table. They have used their resourcefulness skills by using dienes to make equal groups and share equally between groups to aid their understanding.

In Literacy, they have written a fantastic newspaper report based on our book, The King who banned the dark. We worked together to plan and write our report, remembering to include important features such as a newspaper name, a headline, an introduction and a 5W (who, what, where, when and why) paragraph.

Here are our week 6 certificate winners! Let's give them a 'dino-clap!'

Marvellous Maths

This week in Year 3, the children have been busy applying all of their Mathematical skills to solve tricky concepts including the 4 and 8 times tables. They have used different methods to find the answers to their sharing problems from arrays, division sentences, bar models and multiplication facts, the children have certainly showed off their amazing range of skills.

They have had to engage their resourcefulness skills and link their learning to solve problems, answer fluency questions and use the inverse to check their answers!

The children have achieved this through the use of concrete objects, pictorial representations and abstract thinking - what resilient learners you all are in Year 3.

"I have been learning to count in my eight times tables." - Jack

"I can use groups to find the answer." - Jessica

"8 times tables end in 0,2,4,6 and 8." - Alfie

Have a lovely weekend, we will see you all on Monday morning.
