On Friday 3rd March Ash Class will be going on their trip to Hyde Park. Please ensure children arrive to school as early as possible as we will be leaving the school at 8:45am. Your child can wear a costume for World Book Day, however, please make sure it is suitable as there is a lot of walking!

Year 3 have had a fantastic start back !
In Maths, they have been developing their understanding of perimeter. They have used their resourcefulness skills to measure the perimeter of concrete and pictorial objects.
In Literacy, they have been introduced to their new book called 'Escape From Pompeii'. They used their prediction skills to infer what the book was going to be about and went on to write their own blurb for the book.
The children have been introduced to their new Science topic 'Animals including humans' and have used their reciprocity skills to work together to find out information about what a nutrient is, what it does and the different nutrients that we need as a human.

In Literacy this week, year 3 immersed themselves in our new class book, Escape from Pompeii.
They began the week by researching ancient Pompeii, searching it's location, climate, culture and lifestyle. We used Google Earth to show the children Mount Vesuvius and they were on the edge of their seats with astoundment!
After this, the children then used their inference skills to predict what the book is about. They looked at what they know, what they do not know, what they think will happen and what they would like to find out.
We read the book as a class and the children were able to discuss the emotions of the different characters. They then summarised the story with pictures and created their very own story map.
They ended the week with writing their own blurb to entice others to read the book.
Well done year 3 we are all very proud of your fantastic ideas and fabulous writing!
