Year 4 Certificates 25.10.24
Year 3 Certificates
It's been an excellent week in Year 3 and the children have been working hard across all of their subjects to make progress in their learning before the Half Term break.
In Literacy, the children used their knowledge of our story for this half term, 'A Tale of Two Robots', to write an alternative story as part of an independent piece of writing. It was lovely to see so many children using their imagination to bring these alternative stories to life whilst also ensuring that they challenge themselves to use expanded noun phrases, inverted commas and paragraphs effectively in their writing.
In Maths, the children have been learning to add and subtract ones across a ten using the steps to success to aid their learning. They then applied this knowledge to adding and subtracting across a hundred to great effect. Super job Year 3!
This week's certificate winners are..
E for Excellence - Victor, Harry and Iustin
Star Writer - Loui, Bella and Zara
Happy Teacher - Kai, Tommy and Kylie
4 R's - Miya-Rose, Joshua and Ara

Children in Need - 15.11.2024
21st October 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
Broadford will be hosting a very special day to raise money for Children In Need this year on Friday 15th November.
This will include:
Non-uniform day with a theme.
Design a new Pudsey competition to take place within classes.
Fun Pudsey themed activities to take part in throughout the day in class.
This year's theme encourages you to be SPOTacular!
The children can wear any spotty clothing they own or if you are struggling to find clothing to match the theme a simple idea would be to draw polka dots on a plain t-shirt. If you would like to add Pudsey accessories to your outfit feel free! We ask that you contribute £1 per family to this great cause if your child is in non-uniform and any further donations are welcome.
I am sure that we will all have a fun day raising money for Children In Need.
Kind Regards,
Miss Hamilton and Mrs Green

An Author Visit at Broadford!
We are excited to welcome the author of one of our '105 Books before you leave Broadford' this coming Tuesday 22nd October!
Toyin Owoseje, a seasoned journalist and published author, wrote 'Wonderfully Me' to remind young readers to be proud of who they are, respect others and be kind to one another. The books also teaches all readers to celebrate diversity.
We look forward to welcoming Toyin as she inspires our Broadford children!

Amazing Animation
The children have been super busy in their Art lessons this half term, designing, creating and making their pictures come to life through the art of animation.
They began by drawing their robot designs into their sketch books, using their drawing skills to refine the original designs.
Once their designs were finalised, the children had to draw them onto cardboard ready to cut each part out. In order to ensure that their robots could move, the children used split pins to attach each of the different parts.
To complete the project, the children will decorate their robots in the final lesson.
Year 3 Certificates
It's been a wonderful week in Year 3 and the children have been working hard across all of their subjects to make progress in their learning.
In Literacy, the children used their knowledge of our story for this half term, 'A Tale of Two Robots', to write an alternative story as part of a shared write. It was lovely to see so many children using their imagination to bring these alternative stories to life, whilst also ensuring that they use inverted commas and paragraphs effectively in their writing. Well done Year 3!
In Maths, the children have been learning to add and subtract ones across a ten using the steps to success to aid their learning. It can be difficult for the children to follow the steps at first, but after some practice they were able to work independently to add and subtract ones across a ten. Year 3 have definitely demonstrated resilience this week in Maths.
This week's certificate winners are..
E for Excellence - Subhan, Elsie and Edie
Star Writer - Onyeka, Lochlan and Alice
Happy Teacher - Gabrielle, Yehor and Alexandra
4 R's - Kosta, Lola Rohith and Jimmy
Year 4's Exciting Egyptian VR Workshop
This week, we were lucky to enjoy our VR (Virtual Reality) lesson on Ancient Egypt. This tied nicely into our topic this Half Term. We got to see the newly polished Great Pyramids of Giza. We learned about some of the Pharaohs such as Tutankhamun (who was only 9); Cleopatra (the last Pharaoh) and Nefertiti. Did you know that the pharaohs believed they were Gods!
We also learned about the Gods Anubis (god of the underworld); Osiris (green skin) and Iris (Goddess of fertility).
