We have loved reading our book, The Bogey Men and the Trolls Next Door by Kaye Umansky. The children used their 4 R's (Resilience, Reciprocity, Resourcefulness, and Reflectiveness) throughout the unit! First, we explored the fun poetry in the book. We learned how to write funny 5-line poems called limericks using a special AABBA rhyming pattern. Next, the children wrote their own diary entries from a character's point of view. They started with "Dear Diary", wrote their events in order from morning to night, and described how the character was feeling throughout the day.
We are so proud of everyone's fantastic writing!
"I loved writing limericks because making the AABBA words rhyme and made me laugh!" - Riddhi, Elm
"It was fun pretending to be a troll and writing about feeling cross in my diary!" - Emily, Maple
"I remembered to write 'Dear Diary' first and put all the day's events in order!" - Inayah, Willow
