Ash Maths Set: getting crafty with capacity!

Wet tables? Measuring jugs galore? It must be Capacity Week!

The challenge for Ash this week was to improve the accuracy of their measuring, and ability to read scales.

Resilience
On the first day I found it really hard to read the scale on the measuring jug.  But my teacher showed our group how to work it out using some skills we already had.  It made sense! We practised and helped each other out, and finally felt confident in reading scales.    Yemi, Ash Class

Ash Class Star Writer

The star writer in Ash class this week is Martin Wicher. We were creating a story about a young boy in the East end of London in the late 1940s. He dreams of being a West Ham goalkeeper and loves to play football in the bombed-out streets with his friends and his dog Derek. One day they move to a new estate in the countryside to the East (I can't imagine which one!) but when they get to their new home, it turns out Derek the dog is missing!

Martin really impressed with his use of openers to help the reader to know where and when each part of the story is taking place. He has also tried hard to incorporate as much descriptive vocabulary and as many techniques as he could. Well done Martin!
