Year 3 Certificates

Well done to year 3 on another great week.

We have had an incredibly fun week as yesterday, we celebrated world book day. Everyone in year 3 had a fantastic day celebrating reading! The children took part in a variety of different activities throughout the day including designing their own book marks, reviewing their favourite books, going on a book search and lots and lots of reading!

In Maths this week we have continued our work with length and perimeter. The children have been learning to convert different units of measure to solve tricky problems.. In Literacy, we have spent the week planning and writing our own newspaper reports about the tremors caused by Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii, ensuring to include all of the correct features.

A huge well done to this week's certificate winners for continuing to shine bright.

Year 3 Celebrate World Book Day

Year 3 have had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day. The children were immersed in stories throughout the day, taking on roles of different characters as well as discussing their likes and dislikes about different genres and thinking about what makes a good book.

The children began the morning, with a mini fashion parade to show off all of their wonderful costumes and pyjamas before moving on to design their bookmarks. The theme of the day was read your own way, and the children embraced this through spending time reading either alone, with a friend or in a small group. The learning continued outside, with the children taking part in a book treasure hunt.

What a fabulous day we had in Year 3!

I love reading by myself and with my friends - Edie

I enjoyed searching for the clues and solving the problem - Mishti

I enjoyed designing my own bookmark - Bentley

Year 4's Fraction Fun

The children in Year 4 have been building on their prior knowledge of fractions and exploring the area of improper fractions and mixed numbers.

They have been challenging themselves to be able to record the value of any given representation using both improper fractions and mixed numbers.

The power of conversion was flowing throughout the year group and they went on to create their own representations too!

'I get it now! You divide the numerator by the denominator when you want to convert the fraction into a mixed number.' - Oliver - Elm

“The diagrams really help me see the link between improper fractions and mixed numbers. “ Aniah-Mai, Maple
"This was so amazing getting to see the different way you can represent the same thing, I loved getting to share and talk with my partner and discuss how we can show this." - George, Willow
