This week in Year 3
In Science, Year 3 have been focusing on developing their pattern seeking, comparative, and fair testing skills. They began by revisiting the concept of force and engaging in discussions around its definition. They then progressed to comparing and discussing various surfaces and explored their impact on the motion of an object. A particular emphasis was placed on the vocabulary word "friction", which Year 3 discovered was a force that hinders object movement, acting in the opposite direction.
To practically apply their knowledge, children worked outside collaboratively in groups, designing investigations to determine the level of friction produced by different surfaces such as grass, concrete, wood and sand.
A round of applause for this week’s certificate winners!
