Bogeymen and Trolls in Year 4!

This week, the children have had such fun reading their new story: The Bogeyman and The Trolls Next Door by Kay Umansky. The story is centred around the Bogeyman and his family, who are very happy with their home and their way of life until the noisy, nasty Trolls move in next door. They decide the only thing to do is to try and scare them off - that's what Bogeymen are supposed to do after all!

It's written in rhyme and is full of humour, so the children really enjoyed reciting lines and thinking about how to perform it. They, once again, showed their dramatic prowess in all three classes; thinking carefully about how the characters would act and even improvising what they might say!

"It's important to use your face and your body when you're acting" Jason, Ash.

"The Bogeymum has to look really angry and rude!" Ella, Larch

All of this drama has helped them understand the character's perspectives, which will certainly help in the diary entry they are writing this week. By the end of the unit, they will be writing their own narrative verse and performing it, which we are all very excited about!

"We need to act like twins having the best time of our lives!" Medeea and Aisling, Birch.

Brilliant work, year 4. As always, you worked brilliantly together and used your learning power, reciprocity, effectively. We can't wait to see all the fabulous writing you are going to produce!
