Year 3 Certificates 21.10.22
Well done to all of the children in Year 3 this week! They have worked extremely hard.
In Maths, they have been developing their understanding of the column method using regrouping when adding more than 9 in one column and exchanging when the number on top is smaller.
In Literacy, they had an exciting webinar with Tom Wilson on Thursday who read some of his new book to them and they were able to draw what they could hear.
On Tuesday, they celebrated Black History Month with some amazing artwork by Esther Mahlangu. The children worked very hard to include vibrant geometric patterns.
Today, the children have enjoyed learning about and celebrating Diwali! They have come dressed in their colourful clothes and they created some beautiful rangoli patterns.
Let's give our week 7 certificate winners a 'spec-tacular!'
E for Excellence - Tianna, Kiara and Poppy.
Star Writer - Paige, Aliza and Pragya.
Teacher Happy - Mason and Veer.
4 R'S - Umar, George and Logan.
Presentation - Chidera.
TTRS - Elsie, Amelia, Joshua, Elliot, Archie, Elena, Erikas, Hope, Pragya, Grace, Emmy and Darcie.
Have a lovely half term and we will see you all on the 1st November.
Year 3 Celebrate Diwali!
What a fantastic day Year 3 have had celebrating Diwali. The children were so excited coming into school all dressed in their bright colours, we even had some rainbow coloured hair!
The children have been super busy learning all about Diwali - The Festival of Light, what it means to those who celebrate it and why it is important to their religion.
One of our amazing Year 3 children brought in lots of pictures and information from home to share with the year group, as well as informing us about Diwali and how he celebrates the festival with his family and friends. Thank you Veer for demonstrating your reciprocity skills and for your super explanation!
In the afternoon, the children were able to design their own Rangoli patterns before going to our outdoor learning environment to create them using coloured chalks. The children used their resourcefulness skills to transfer their designs from paper to concrete, thinking carefully about which media would work better on different surfaces.
'Diwali is so fun!' - George
'I know that Diwali is the Festival of Light.' - Darren
'Rangoli patterns are placed to bring good luck.' - Elena
We would like to thank you for your continued support and we wish you a restful half term. We look forward to seeing the children back in school on Tuesday 1st November.

Year 3 are Going to the Cinema!
We are delighted to inform you that a trip has been booked for our Year 3 children. In celebration of the Into Film Festival, the children will be attending a private screening of 'Conni and the Cat' at Vue Cinema in Romford.
On Thursday 10th November, all children should be in school by 8.45am as we will be leaving promptly at 9.00am. We will be travelling by bus and expect to arrive back at school between 12.30 - 1.00pm.
The children will eat lunch at school once we have returned from the cinema. In case we are back late on the day, all children will need a packed lunch (provided by school or home). Should your child require a lunch provided by the school, please log on to your sQuid account and follow the steps provided to order your school trip lunch no later than Wednesday 2nd November so that we can process your order in time for your child's trip. Alternatively, children can bring their own packed lunch in a bag that is clearly labelled with their name and class.
Your child/ren will be bringing home a letter today. Please complete the permission slip and return to your child's class teacher by Wednesday 2nd November.
Any questions please email us at year3@broadford.havering.sch.uk
