The Stone Age came to Year 3, in the form of a prehistoric history workshop!
Throughout their history lessons this half term, the children have been learning what it was like for the hunter gatherers during the Stone Age, and how a key part of survival was the development of good hunting skills. Using their resourcefulness skills, the children were able to test out their own hunting ability by stepping into the footsteps of Stone Age hunters and use foam-tipped spears to hunt a woolly mammoth.
On Tuesday, the children took part in a Stone Age workshop, where they were able to learn about and handle a range of real and replica artefacts, including teeth and bones from real Stone Age animals such as cave bears as well as flint handled axes. The children worked together using their reciprocity skills to discuss and label what they thought each artefact could be.
What a fantastic bunch of Stone Age children we have in Year 3! It was a super workshop that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
