Weekly Newsletter - Friday 10th March

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

Applications for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme to open Wednesday 8 March

Applications for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme will officially open from Wednesday 8 March 9am and will close on Wednesday 15 March at 5pm. The scheme allows eligible families to apply for £30 per child to purchase food to replace the meals their child would have received during the school day. Helping us ensure no child goes hungry during the school holiday.
Details about the scheme and application form when live will be available on the Council’s website.
Your family may be eligible for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme.
If your circumstances have changed or you have another child start school in the current academic year that you haven’t yet made an application for, please do be sure to check the new claims criteria on the Havering council website to see if you are eligible.

HAF Easter Program
We are thrilled to be able to offer the Sports Cool Holiday Club again this Easter. Please see the attached flyer for details.
To be eligible for these funded sessions, children MUST be in receipt of BENEFIT RELATED Free School Meals (BRFSM). You can check your eligibility or apply for benefit related free school meals via this page Free School Meals Criteria and Application Link
As always, places are limited and this is always a very popular activity for the children. So be quick to ensure you do not miss out

Mothers’ Day

Easter
It is only a few weeks till we finish for the Easter break. I know that it feels like we have only returned from the Christmas break! However, to mark the occasion all pupils will be taking part in an easter egg hunt during the week beginning 27th March and we will be hosting Broadford’s Easter parade on Friday 31st March. We are inviting all pupils to take part in designing, making and wearing with pride an Easter bonnet/hat. It is £1 to enter the competition and this will contribute towards our fundraising total this year.
The bonnet/ hat could be made from card, paper, or use a baseball cap/sunhat/wooly hat as a base. Then allow your child to decide what they would like on their hat, it could be flowers, signs of new life such as Lambs, chicks and chocolate eggs. It can be anything linked to Easter.
We can’t wait to see all of the creations in school on Friday 31st March. Happy crafting!

School day Times
You may be aware that by September 2023, all mainstream schools will be expected to provide a compulsory week of at least 32.5 hours by the government. This means at Broadford that we will need to extend our school day by 15 mins. Currently our doors open at 8.30am and pupils must be in school by 8.55am. There are a variety of ways in which we could extend the school day and we would like to hear from our parents what your preference would be. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey via the link below and state your preference. I would like to thank you for your cooperation in advance.
