Year 3 Certificates

A huge well done to all of our wonderful certificate winners this week!

The Year 3 children have had another fantastic week of learning. In Literacy the children have been discussing the features of a letter before planning, writing and editing their letters to Callum, asking him to build their robots.

In Maths, the children have been continuing with their place value and extending their learning to less than, greater than and equal to.

As always, the children have been superstars this week and we are so proud of them all.

Apologies for no photos of our E for Excellence and Star Writer in Ash, we will ensure that these are added on Monday.

Fabulous French in Year 3

In French this week, the children began their lesson by reactivatng their learning of numbers from 1-31. All children were given a bingo card and had to be the first one to call 'Bingo' as their teacher called out the different French numbers. The children showed great reciprocity when playing bingo, encouraging each other and cheering for the winner.

After they completed bingo, the children began their lesson on 'Days of the week' and took it in turns to say the days of week in order, using my turn your turn and then had to answer questions about the different days. The children showed resilence when working together for the task of ordering the days of the week.

Zariyah - “I love French bingo , it is so much fun.”

Miqdaad- “ I know that Mardi is Tuesday in French.”

Amira - 'I know that Lundi means Monday."

Science in Year 4

Our Year 4's have delved into their first Science unit of the year - The Digestive System.

They have been exploring the journey of food and that key parts of our body support the breaking down of food from the entry point of the body, to the exit point.

In addition to the highlight of successfully saying and spelling oesophagus, the children furthered their understanding of the digestive system by undertaking a science experiment this week!

The Year 4's demonstrated that they are reflective learners as they were able to make connections with the resources used in the experiment and how they represent the different parts of the digestive system, using the knowledge that they have gleaned so far this half-term.

'I cant believe this is what our intestines do!' - Lily-Mae
'This is disgusting.' - Jack

'The lemon juice represents the acid in our stomach.' - Ali

Some even displayed resilience when conducting the experiment as the texture of the food in the 'intestines' stage was understandably nauseating.

'Is this really what happens inside of us?' - Zayd

In all, this experiment further exposed the brilliance of our biology and we look forward to our next steps in learning.

Willow class Year 4

Willow class have worked incredibly hard to create an audience for this sculpture. They listened to the

instructions given and all thought about body positioning and how they would look at the sculpture. As

you can see there were a variety of different positions the children chose. Don't we have some amazing

 sculptors!

Year 3 Certificates

A huge well done to all of our wonderful certificate winners this week!

The Year 3 children have had a fabulous week of learning. In Literacy the children have been learning about 'Inverted Commas' and writing their own sentences using them.
The children have continued to look at place value this week in Maths, and have been working on partioning hundreds, tens and ones.
In Guided Reading, the children began a new novel - Fantastic Mr Fox. They have used their inference skills to predict what the characters are like and why as well as presenting a short extract in Readers Theatre, concentrating on tone, volume and expression.

As always, the children have been superstars this week and we are so proud of them all.

Teacher Happy - Callissya and Fire

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Helping to keep our outdoor space tidy!

Mrs Stanley has asked the children in our school to help keep our outside areas tidy. It's a collective effort so we are asking them to take turns on a rota. I asked the children in each class if they would like to help. Look at the response we had!

The children are so fortunate to have all the equipment we have such as den building and pallets in the outside area. We also have pens, paper, buggies and scooters, balls and hoops outside in OPAL.  With all this wonderful equipment comes the responsility of caring and tidying for them. By having an understanding now, they will in turn have an understanding of responsibiliities we have as adults. You are amazing year 4!

All of the children were super keen to demostrate their reciprocity, resilience care and consideration for their school and peers. How proud we are of these children and their willingness to support everyone and everything in their school community!
