Year 3 Certificate Blog
It’s been another exciting week of learning and year 3 have been working exceptionally well.
In Maths, the children have been learning how to use inverse operations to check the answer to a question. The children have also been recapping previous work to prepare them for their end of unit tests on addition and subtraction. We are proud to say they have all shown resilience within their maths lessons this week. Well done!
In Literacy, the children have been continuing to read ‘The King Who Banned the Dark’, and have been planning and writing a speech to convince the King to not ban the dark. The children were able to use the elements of persuasive writing to produce excellent pieces of writing. After reading your work this week, I am sure the King is more than convinced by the arguments you have made.
This week, the children have been busy learning their lines and all of the wonderful songs to prepare for our Christmas concert early next month. Ms Jennings and all the year 3 team are very proud of all their progress. Keep practising at home, children! You all sound amazing!
Let's give our certificate winners a hulk smash..

Year 3 PE
During this half term, the theme explored in our Physical Education (PE) curriculum has been 'Machines'. In Year 3, our focus has been on selecting and linking appropriate actions and dynamics to convey our dance ideas related to this theme. The children have been encouraged to consider the effective use of space around them, incorporate actions that represent a machine breaking down, and maintain synchronised counts to stay in time with their group.
In this week's lesson, Year 3 pupils were organised into groups to devise a sequence of 8 actions that symbolised a functioning machine. Each group performed their sequence four times, considering whether their machine would malfunction gradually or all at once. Furthermore, the children engaged in discussions to collectively determine which ideas to incorporate that would benefit the entire group. It was inspiring to see Year 3 attentively listen to their peers' suggestions as a team.

Year 3 & 4 Maths Challenge 20.11.23
Houses Puzzle
Four houses next to each other have numbers that add up to 52. What are their numbers?
Clue: Remember that house numbers are not always just consecutive. Houses on one side can be consecutive odd and on the other side consecutive even.
Year 3 Visit to the Synagogue
As part of our school trips to enhance learning, Year 3 will be visiting a local Synagogue.
As the Synagogue cannot accommodate all 90 children at the same time, we will be visiting over two days.
The dates of the visits are:
Monday 11th December 2023 - Cherry class, half of Cedar Class
Tuesday 12th December 2023 - Ash Class, half of Cedar Class
If your child is in Cedar Class you will be informed of which day your child will be visiting the Synagogue.
We will be returning back to school between 11.30 -11.45 so the children will have their lunch in school as normal.
Please fill in the form to give permission for your child to attend the visit.
