The Roman Empire

On Tuesday, Year 3, started their new History topic, The Roman Empire.

The children began by being reflective learners; through discussion and questioning, they thought about what they already know about the Romans and how this links to their previous learning in History. The children moved on to the invasion of Britain and the importance of the Roman Army, before considering the impact this had on Britain. They then used their resourcefulness skills to design and create their own Roman shield, whilst considering what materials and tools may have been used during this time period and why and how it may link to the previous time periods that they have already studied.

'The Romans used iron to make shields.' - Sultan

'They used their shields to protect themselves from the enemy.' - Amari

'The Roman Army had to go to the toilet together!' - Cruz
