Last week we celebrated British Science Week at Broadford Primary School which, this year, was centred around the topic of 'Time.'
The Children first discussed what time meant to them, before thinking of examples of how time impacts our everyday lives. We then went on to discuss how time can effect our bodies before introducing the task for this year's lesson.
First the children recorded their pulse when resting, this was important because it allowed the children to determine whether exercise affected this. The children then competed in a race across the playground, with the fastest child from each year group receiving a prize. After running, the children checked their pulse for the second time and timed how long it took for their pulse to return to their original reading.
Back in class we discussed our results and drew our conclusions from them. We then challenged the children to design their own poster relating to the theme of time. There were so many amazing entries and choosing a winner from each year group was very difficult.
