This week, Willow have been investigating what changes occur when they exercise. In particular, they examined how their heart rate changed as a result of exercise. To begin with, they measured their pulse (found at either their neck or their wrist) for one minute and recorded their results. After, they performed 3 different activities, of increasing difficulty: squatting, star jumping and running on the spot. Willow class soon discovered that after exercise their heart rate increased significantly, as more blood needed to be pumped around their body, therefore allowing their muscles to access the oxygen needed to work properly.
